Why too much Co2 is dangerous
Too much of anything is bad and the same applies with Co2. Carbon Dioxide is part of the natural cycle of life, however pollution, has released more Co2 into the air than there used to be. This contributes to global warming and general environmental degradation.
The effect of Co2 on the environment
Carbon Dioxide is a greenhouse gas that, on a normal level is necessary for the environment to function.
However too much of it traps the energy from the sun in the atmosphere and heats it up, hence we are now dealing with the problem of global warming.
Co2 also dissolves in water to make carbonic acid which has been responsible in the decline of biodiversity of amphibians and fish in aquatic systems.
Carbon Dioxide has emission and absorption bands in the infra-red. Thermodynamically it radiates more into the troposphere potentially causing chaotic climate change.
Reducing the carbon footprint
With the increase of car manufacturing there has been more Co2 emitted into the atmosphere than ever before.
This of course is not the only reason there is more Co2 in the atmosphere but it definitely has been a considerable contribute.
To reduce our carbon footprint it is important that we invest time, money and energy into programs such as the Land Rover Co2offsetting program.
It is important for everyone to take care of their own personal affect made in causing more Co2 to be released into the atmosphere. The offsetting program by Land Rover could be a good place to start
